Pelham Hall lies at the entrance to the village of Penallt, 4 miles south of Monmouth off the B4293 Monmouth to Chepstow road (see map). Please note that it is not accessible by vehicle from the A466 Wye valley road at Redbrook.
It was completed in 1992 with the aid of grants, the present building replacing the original village hall of 1923 which had fallen into disrepair. The new hall laboured under debt but was able from the start to provide new and much better facilities for the village. Eventually the committee achieved the seemingly impossible and found itself able to look forward to remaining in the black.
The hall is used by an indoor short mat bowls club and has changing rooms for cricket and tennis. There are yoga classes too. Concerts, weddings, social meetings including the WI are all catered for and the staging of the Christmas Bazaar and Summer Fete are able to take full advantage of the hall's facilities. The YouTube video below was shot in December 2013 and shows some of the activities and facilities on offer.
NEW: Thursday nights are now Village Nights at the Hall. More details here.
