Art in Penallt wins High Sheriff Award
In England & Wales and Northern Ireland, a High Sheriff Award or High Sheriff's Award is an honour granted by a High Sheriff to an individual or organisation to recognise work they have done for the local community.
The High Sheriff of Gwent, Lt Col Ralph Griffin, had decided to present the Chair and the Art in Penallt (AiP) Committee with a High Sheriff's Award, to recognise the local achievements and voluntary contributions to the community. Chair of AiP, Caroline Peters MBE and long serving committee member, Lisa O'Neill, attended on behalf of the committee.
This follows an outstanding AiP last year that donated £8,250 to local Penallt charities and the Monmouth Mayor's Relief Fund for the flooding event in December 2025. It was the last of the High Sheriff's awards for this Shrieval year to honour several deserving recipients from the community in Gwent. Others included: Monmouth Aid, Monmouth Town Council, KidCcare4U (Newport) and The Robin Hood Public House
