A40 Leys Bend Rockfall – Project Update

soil nails installation now completed

Work at the A40 Leys Bend site continues to progress well, with the main phase—installing soil nails and steel mesh—now successfully completed. With traffic management still in place, teams are taking the opportunity to carry out additional improvements, including installing new safety barriers, completing drainage repairs, resurfacing the carriageway, and removing temporary crossovers.

This coordinated approach, delivered alongside the South Wales Trunk Road Authority’s vegetation and tree‑clearance work, means future disruption can be minimised and all traffic management is expected to be removed by Spring 2026.

To support ongoing activity, the A40 eastbound contraflow lane will be closed overnight from 30 March to 3 April, between 9pm and 6am, with a signed diversion in place. As always, dates may change due to weather or operational needs.

Full details of progress on this significant project are available at A40 Leys Bend Rockfall - National Highways.
