Lower Wye Tracks & Trails
Working Together to Create an Action Plan for Recreational Access in Monmouthshire’s Wye Valley
The Wye Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) Unit is working on a new strategy and action plan, to help provide the best experience for all those that enjoy the tracks and trails in the Monmouthshire part of the Wye Valley AONB. The aim of the work is to develop the most practical ways of supporting the requirements of all types of users, while protecting the natural and built environment for current and future generations.
As part of the initiative we are carrying out a public consultation to ensure the views of stakeholders, local residents, users of and visitors to the tracks and trails of the Wye Valley AONB in Monmouthshire are taken into consideration when developing the strategy and action plan.
The consultation deadline is 12 January 2024. More details plus access to the survey are at Lower Wye Tracks & Trails Consultation.
Stakeholder Consultation for Wye Valley North Forest Resource Plan
Natural Resources Wales (NRW) is currently reviewing its Forest Resource Plan (FRP) for the forests it manages in the north of the Wye Valley. As a part of this process they are keen to seek the views of their neighbours and stakeholders.
You are invited to have your say on the new Management Plan for our local woodlands. The Plan sets out long term objectives and proposals for the future management of the woodlands and the trees within them.
The areas involved include a good deal of the woods within and just outside the Penallt boundary, including Troypark Wood in the north and Colonel’s Park in the south, extending to Trellech Common, Beacon Hill and beyond.
You can respond to the online consultation or come along to a drop-in Event at The Narth Village Hall on Wednesday 6 December between 11.30am and 6.00pm. The link to the draft Management Plan and the online consultation is next.
