Coronavirus: Penallt Support Network
Some of those who live in Penallt may find themselves affected by the virus, and become isolated or unable to get out to collect food or medicines as well as carry on with everyday tasks. Whilst many have the support of friends, neighbours and family, others may not and it's clear that a community service to enable people to ask for help or assistance is needed.
So, under the auspices of Pelham Hall, a support network for the village has been developed, largely through the hard work of Penallt residents Jan Harrhy, Amy Jenkins and David May and, to date, over 45 have contacted the group to offer their services.
The area covered by the scheme is that of the village parish (including Tregagle and New Mills).
The support network's role is to identify those who would like assistance with tasks such as those mentioned above and also to seek volunteers who can give such assistance, and to provide the central co-ordinating role needed.
For those volunteering their help (who have not already done so), click VOLUNTEER and complete the feedback form which comes up.
For those seeking assistance from the scheme (who have not already done so), click SEEK HELP and complete the feedback form which comes up.
More on the Penallt Support Network
Of course, the information about the scheme can only reach those such as yourself on the Penallt newsletter mailing list and this excludes some 40% of residents.
There are therefore two strands to our current communication exercise, the first being to disseminate information via the Penallt newsletter and the second being to drop leaflets about the scheme through the letterboxes of those we know we can't reach by this mail.
It would be great if those who are on email but who have not yet subscribed to the newsletter could "sign up" ... if you know of any in this category, then maybe you could suggest that they dropped a mail to webmaster@penallt.org.uk consenting for their email address to be included?
