Moorcroft Road Resurfacing

As many will know, the surface of Moorcroft Road has deteriorated badly recently, despite sporadic patching. We have recently heard from MCC Highways that “small surfacing works” will be carried out by MCC Highway Operations on Wed 27th to Fri 29th May between the hours of 0930 and 1600, weather permitting.

The section concerned is shown below. The road will need to be closed from time to time - see below for more detail.

Newport Bus says "The road near Pelham Hall will be closed from 27 May to 29 May 2026. As a result buses will operate via Lone Lane between Cross Vane and Old Penallt Church stops."

This is not very clear! They probably mean the Old Baptist Church and not Penallt Old Church. What does seem clear is that the bus will not go along Moorcroft Road.

MCC Highways say: “Access will be maintained for residents where ever possible, but delays should be expected due to the laying of hot material and movement of large machinery. Access for emergency services will be maintained at all time. Therefore, we ask that any vehicular access to/from properties are planned for outside of the works times where possible.

Access for Pelham Hall will be maintained as best as possible, which could be via the diversion. Friday 29th May will be the time when access will be difficult, this is when the actual new road surface is being laid, Please be mindful of this and plan accordingly and be respectful that this disruption is only over 3 days between 9.30am and 4pm. We ask for your patience and understanding throughout the working times and apologise for any inconvenience caused.”

Any queries should go to Highway Operations on 01633 644644.
