Art in Penallt supports village charities
The Art in Penallt website proudly proclaims that “Art in Penallt is a not for profit organisation & all net funds raised go to the charities supported each year.” And this year is no exception in that four local charities have today benefited from the huge success of this year’s festival.
The four charities involved are Penallt Old Church, Penalt United Charities, Babington Meadow and Pelham Hall. Two of these are perhaps less well known than The Old Church and our Village Hall, so it might help to know that:-
Penalt United Charities: “For 150 years the charity has made payments at Christmastide to the poor and aged parishioners of Penallt not in receipt of parochial relief. We maintain this village tradition. As the actual amounts they receive are so small and have probably not kept pace with inflation, that they have been thought of, and remembered, we hope possibly still counts just as much to the recipients!”
Babington Meadow: is listed by the Charities Commission as “Penallt Recreation Ground” with TUCC as the Trustee. It provides an open area for recreation, including a small children's play area - full details are at Babington Meadow.
A magnificent sum of £7250 was distributed between the four charities with presentations being made at Pelham Hall. Click each image below for the full-sized version.
