On entering the Pelham Hall, the visitor is greeted by an attractive foyer and staircase to the upper floor. The foyer is large enough for any duty such as ticket inspection or a welcoming ceremony. Double doors lead from the foyer directly into the main hall.
The main hall itself is large enough for meetings with an audience of up to 210, for comprehensive exhibitions, dances, social events or sporting activities such as Badminton, Indoor Tennis, Short Mat Bowls or Gymnastics. It is equipped with excellent lighting, it has good acoustics and there
is a demountable stage. The 'sprung' beech floor is suitable for most activities and its appearance pleasantly offsets the smart grey decor. 120 comfortable chairs are available for use in the hall.
There is a well equipped kitchen adjoining the main hall which has a serving hatch so that ambitious catering enterprises can be conveniently undertaken.
Also on the ground floor are toilets and both ladies' and gentlemen's changing rooms. These are, of course, fitted with showers and lockers so that energetic sports can be indulged in with confidence.
The upper floor can be easily reached, either by the stairs from the foyer or, on the level, from the balcony on the other side of the building. This arrangement allows easy access to either floor by wheelchair or by the disabled. There are, incidently, toilet facilities for the disabled on both floors.
The first floor contains an excellent lounge with views through the big windows looking over the cricket ground and the surrounding countryside. Although the lounge is largely carpetted, there is a small dance floor for those wishing to trip the light fantastic in pleasant surroundings. Naturally, being a lounge, there are easy chairs and occasional tables. A well equipped bar forms one end of the lounge so every comfort is to hand. For meetings or lectures, the lounge can seat up to 120 in comfort. A unique and enjoyable feature of the lounge is the provision of windows looking down on to the main hall. One can watch sports activities taking place in the main hall from the comfort of the lounge with one's glass in one's hand without in any way impeding the action below.
Also on this floor is another kitchen where food can be prepared and served for those attending events in the lounge.
Finally, there is a pleasant smaller meeting room or committee room which will hold an audience of up to about 40 in comfort.
This completes the range of facilities which are available to meet the requirements of almost any type and size of event. The Tennis Club room is not available for hire.
Naturally, the building was constructed from the outset to meet all the latest fire and safety regulations and has car parking space on the forecourt.
In total, Pelham Hall makes a delightful and enjoyable venue for the widest range of functions, whether social, business or sporting. Both the surroundings and the building itself offer something a little different from that usually available.
