Testing Meend Farm

from Debbie McCarty
Area Services Officer
Central Monmouthshire

I am writing to inform the community council that we will be testing the ground at Penallt at Meend farm as discussed at the public meeting to see if it is suitable for burials. This work will commence sometime in the next two weeks and could last up to a year.

Bore holes will be placed around the site and samples drawn on a monthly basis to be analysed and in accordance with the Ground Water Act of 1998
As a council we are still looking for other plots of land that may be suitable to use but because of the long time scales involved in testing we will continue with the testing on this site. As yet no other suitable plots have been identified.
We will keep you informed of any results that may indicate whether the site is suitable or not.
