Penallt Classic Car and Bike Show: future in doubt

The seventh Classic Car Show took place on Sunday 10th August 2014 on the Penallt Cricket Ground where the oldest car on display was a 1914 Grant TT and other Classic Cars and Bikes were also on display on the cricket pitch. The usual refreshments were available and the bar was open in the Club House. The day was a great success as usual.

But it seems unlikely to be repeated in 2016 unless new blood can be found to continue the tradition.

Initially a small working group of four enthusiasts was set up to organise and run the biennial show. For various reasons John Tudgay has been the only member left of the group to organise shows in recent years and, as he says:-

"I am growing long in the tooth now. It is a shame to stop the shows not only for loss of income but also because a lot of people have enjoyed these shows over the years and look forward to them.

However nobody has come forward to offer to take over or help with the show organisation and you cannot expect anybody who is not an old vehicle enthusiast to get involved.

I would also wish to place on record my appreciation of all the help from the WI and many others who have helped on the day of the show."

So, is this the end of the line for the Penallt Classic Car and Bike Show or might there be someone local who is interested in carrying on John's good work? John is very willing to assist and show any new organiser the ropes, etc.
