Notice of Review of Communities and Electoral Arrangements
In accordance with the relevant sections of the Local Government Act 1972, Monmouthshire County Council is conducting a review of the communities and electoral arrangements throughout Monmouthshire.
The review will consider the need to create, merge or abolish existing communities and whether there is a need to split the community into wards for separate representation within the community. The review will also consider the number of councillors to represent the community and, where warded, the number of councillors per ward.
Interested parties are invited to make representations for any changes to the existing arrangements that they believe would lead to more effective and convenient local government.
To assist stakeholders in submitting representations, the council have published boundaries of the existing communities and statistical information on its website available at http://www.monmouthshire.gov.uk/957/. The Council has also published a Terms of Reference for the review setting the criteria it will be seeking to achieve throughout Monmouthshire to ensure a consistent approach is applied to the review. Hard copies of the information can be made available upon request.
Representations must be received by 5pm on 22nd February 2012.
