For the third year running, the beautiful hilltop village of Penallt is hosting a major art event in the autumn. We will not only be celebrating the work of local and regional artists but also creating an event with a difference. As well as leading artists showcasing and selling their work we aim to enthuse and excite people of all ages in the creative process.
Penallt is no stranger to the arts. People from George Bernard Shaw to Robert Plant have lived and worked here.

Over the weekend we will be holding five events:
Dinner and Talk. 7.00 p.m. Friday 27th September, The Inn at Penallt
The Festival will be opened in the evening of Friday 27th September with a dinner in the Inn at Penallt which will include an illustrated talk by our guest speaker, internationally renowned local potter, Walter Keeler. This will be a rare opportunity to hear about Walter Keeler’s career and work, his inspirations and his influences. Tickets for the talk and 3 course dinner cost £35.00 and are available from Alastair Robertson 01600 715781. Please book early as numbers are limited.
Fine Art Exhibition 10.00 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th September, Capel Pentwyn, Penallt NP25 4SE
The beautifully converted Capel Pentwyn in the centre of Penallt will, once more, be transformed into an art gallery for two days. There will be a stunning exhibition of work for sale by well-established regional artists and makers. For any enquiries about the exhibition please contact Cathy Farber firstname.lastname@example.org 01600 860476
This year, Dawn Taber, the owner of The Big Art Share in the Brecon Beacons and co-ordinator at Gallery on the Usk in Crickhowell has given her time and expertise, jointly setting up the exhibition and lending us work from her business and the Gallery. She will be at the exhibition all weekend.
Artists in Residence
This year we have two artists in residence, Jantien Powell and Lee Wright. Both artists will be exhibiting in Capel Pentwyn and, on the Sunday, you will be able to meet them outside demonstrating their work.
Meet the Artists
On Saturday evening from 5.00 p.m. we will be opening the exhibition to anyone who would like the opportunity to meet the exhibiting artists and enjoy a glass of wine or fruit juice. In the past this has proved to be pleasant and interesting couple of hours.
Art in the Meadow 10.00 a.m. to 3.30 p.m. Sunday 29th September, Babington Meadow.
This year, in the meadow behind Capel Pentwyn, we are complementing the exhibition by inviting a number of artists and makers to give hands-on demonstrations and to sell their work. There will be a great deal to interest and surprises for everyone at this event! To protect us from the possibility of inclement weather all demonstrations and sales will be under canvas. However, the sun will shine, and there will be an area where you can sit and enjoy a cup of tea, home-made cake and view the outside exhibits in comfort.
For general enquiries and to book a pitch please contact Alastair Robertson email@example.com 01600 715781
Entry to the Exhibition and Meadow events is free.
All art work is for sale and may be taken away on the day of purchase.
We will be holding a raffle and tickets will be on sale over the weekend. The draw will take place at the end of the day on Sunday 29th.
If we have a surplus from the event it will go to The Citizens’ Advice Bureau, Babington Meadow and towards funding the event in 2014.
